I am trying to get at least one biographical page set up in each

time period in order to publish the beginning of this site. J.L.

from the start

At present I have no information on dentistry in Jamaica

under the Taino, the Spaniards, or the British, until the

later 18th century. I would be grateful for any leads to such

information.  Joy Lumsden

I have started a page about John Baker, who seems to be

considered to be the first genuine 'dentist' in the colonies,

later states, in North America; the accounts of his life for

the most part record that he spent some time in Jamaica

between his time in Europe and his later career in the

colonies/states.

So far I have found no confirmation of his presence in

Jamaica in the mid-18th century. Does anyone have any

information on this matter?
